Changes were made to the Wellness regulation during the last Policy Committee meeting before spring break. The following information provides some key points and is a change in practice.
The Policy Committee made changes to Regulation 5402 Wellness for the Elementary schools. The attached revised Regulation will be posted on the District website. Effective immediately.
Key points:
– NO food is allowed to be brought to Elementary schools in recognition of birthdays, holidays, or celebrations
– Students may still bring in an individual breakfast, lunch and snack that should NOT be shared
– Staff members should NOT give out food to students (including lollipops, treats, etc)
No homemade food being shared during the school day is still in effect for all schools K-12 (this section of the Regulation was reorganized to emphasize this restriction).
We can discuss any questions that you have. For PSSAs, students can bring in their own snacks, gum, etc.
