Parents, We Need You!

Working as a volunteer for your child’s school benefits all VFES children and staff.  Volunteering is an opportunity to meet others and enjoy using your time and talents in a variety of ways.  And, of course, nothing compares to the excitement your child has when they see you helping at school! The VFES PTO is looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing to assist with our school’s services, socials, and fundraisers.

Our currently open positions are listed in the Volunteer Interest Form below, and descriptions of the positions can be viewed by clicking the View Position Descriptions link below. To submit your interest in any positions, simply fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

The submission deadline for Volunteer Interest is midnight on September 29th, so be sure to complete the form prior to this date. Once all submissions are received we will be in touch with position assignments!

Open Chairperson & Coordinator Opportunities

Vice President (or Co-Vice Presidents)

The VP is responsible for assisting the president with the intention of taking over the president’s role. Typically the VP oversees the book fair and the yearbook in addition to assisting the president with any other activities or projects that need extra hands throughout the year.

VP of Socials
As a VP of socials, you will help plan the Back-to-School Ice Cream Social, Halloween Trunk or Treat, The Snowball (school dance), and Bag Bingo. Don’t worry if these events are new to you, previous Socials VPs have all the information ready to pass along to help guide you!

Assistant Treasurer
Fundraising and managing the money is what makes a lot of PTO events possible! This role requires someone with some flexibility during the day to run to the bank for deposits, make withdrawals for cash boxes, or deliver checks.

VP Web Coordinator
We all know how important an organization’s web presence is – work with our Web Developer to help make sure our website is kept updated! Help gather information for all of our upcoming events, create and publish news announcements and graphics, and work with our Web Developer to create forms and other tools to support events and fundraising. Previous experience with WordPress a big plus but not required.

4th Grade Party Chair
Help send our 4th graders out with a bang! The 4th grade party is a day for our graduates to let loose and have fun with their friends before moving on to middle school. The party is usually at school during the day near the end of the year and can include whatever your imagination can create!

General Volunteer & Committee Opportunities

Don’t have the time to volunteer for a chairperson or coordinator position listed above? Those chairs/coordinators rely on individual volunteers who lend whatever time they can to help make our school special! No matter what your availability or interests, we have an opportunity that could use your help!

Health Screening Day
Help our nurses record medical basics for all of the students. Shifts run in half-day increments.

Picture Day
Coordinating picture day is no small feat! Help make sure kids look their best for pictures their families will love.

Birthday Bulletin Board
Kids love finding their names on this special bulletin board in the cafeteria

Book Fair
Assist chairperson to update wish lists from teachers and book lists during the book fair, set up book fair, assist during sale days, and break down at the end of the book fair.

School Clubs
The biggest moneymaker of the PTO, and so loved by children and parents alike! After school clubs allow your child to explore their hobbies or interests right after school. Parents are needed to help with everything from club development to organizing club pick up.

Spring Fair Raffle Committee
Assist Chairpersons to secure raffle items, catalog items and item descriptions, and sell tickets the week and night of the fair (May 4th), and prepare thank you notes to donors.

School Store

4th grade party
Assist chair persons set up, clean up, or with scheduling entertainment, food, and gifts for our graduating 4th graders

We encourage you to read our volunteer guidelines and our volunteer FAQ. For any additional questions, contact the VP for Volunteers at vpvolunteer@vfespto.org.
